Orthopedic Sports Medicine Physical Therapist

Position Overview:

  • We work with a variety of complex conditions in addition to wellness and performance clients.
  • We utilize varying techniques with emphasis on Functional Manual Therapy (FMT).
  • Most of our sessions are 30 – 60 minute one-on-one treatments that are guided by the Physical Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Evaluate data from the patient examination (history, systems review, and tests and measures) to determine a diagnosis, prognosis, client goals, and expected outcomes that guide future patient management of musculoskeletal conditions and sports-related injuries.
    • Establish and manage a safe and effective physical therapy plan of care that is consistent with professional obligations, interprofessional collaborations, and administrative policies and procedures of the practice environment.
    • Perform physical therapy interventions in a competent manner to achieve patient goals and outcomes.
    • Perform a physical therapy patient examination using evidenced-based tests and measures that are appropriate to the patient’s age, diagnosis and health status.
    • Produce accurate documentation that follows guidelines and specific documentation formats required by state practice acts, the practice setting, and other regulatory agencies.
    • Collect and analyze data from selected outcome measures in a manner that supports accurate analysis of individual patient and group outcomes.
  • Education: Educate patients on their conditions, treatment options, and rehabilitation protocols, promoting self-management and prevention strategies.
    • Educate others (patients, caregivers, staff, students, other health care providers) using relevant and effective teaching methods.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals to coordinate care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Research & Development: Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in physical therapy to integrate evidence-based practices into patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved and accredited professional Physical Therapy program.
  • Must be licensed as a DPT in Virginia, or in the process of becoming licensed by the Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Must be available for a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday (40 Hour work week)
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association
